When I saw this doll's outfit, I knew that she had to join my collection. In my opinion, she looks more like she came from the 1920's with her shorter embroidered chiffon dress. Her bobbed brunette hair and dark eyes remind me of Clara Bow, Hollywood's "It" girl of the day.
There are some differences between the doll featured in the Wilde Imagination catalog and the actual doll that I received. I was pleasantly surprised to see that her outfit was actually a sage green instead gray, as it appeared to be in the catalog. There was no matching slip, as described, nor were her shoes suede. Also, her pearls were sage green instead of the natural color as shown. Aside from these differences, I was delighted with the outfit, especially the felt cloche hat.
As mentioned previously, the doll has bobbed brunette hair that could work very well with more modern outfits. Her makeup is true to the era, with thin brows and "bow" shaped red lips. The brows give her face a rather sorrowful expression, which some may not care for. Her look is different from any Ellowyne that I've seen, and I like it.
However, I did not care for the extremely dark shadow around her eyes. It is darker than it appears in the catalog.
So, I removed the shadow, and added some lower lashes which she did not have. I also replaced her inset acrylic eyes with brown glass, and I also gave her some human hair lashes.
Aside from the dark eye shadow, I love this doll, because she is something new and different. I also bought the Great Depression Lizette, who will soon receive some customizing. Please check out the makeover on my BEFORE AND AFTER page.
